Founded in 1972 the Woodland Trust is the largest woodland conservation charity and a leading voice in bringing the UK’s trees and woodlands to the attention of Government, land owners and the public. With a supporter base of half a million they were the first and remain the most significant contributor to woodland protections, restoration and creation in the UK. Trees and woods filter our air, cool our cities, purify our water and enrich our soil. Just 13% of the UK is covered with trees compared to the average European country that has 37%. Since the 1930s more than half the ancient woodland has been destroyed and the effects are devastating.

 Our fundraiser will be talking to interested members of the public about The Woodland Trust’s work in the UK and local area specifically, offering people the chance to understand more about the charity and find out how they can get involved whether its attending events, local groups, visiting reserves, volunteering or membership.
